This page covers returns and refunds for items bought from althome.ie, and deposits paid for building and renovation work. Nothing here takes away from your rights under Irish and EU consumer law.
Products bought online
You have 14 days from the day the goods arrive to tell us you are cancelling, and a further 14 days to send them back. Let us know at info@althome.ie and we will confirm the return address. Once the item is back with us, we refund within 14 days using the same payment method you used.
Items must come back unused and in their original packaging. You pay the cost of return shipping unless the item was faulty or we sent the wrong thing, and we ask you to pack furniture properly, since damage caused on the way back to us reduces what we can refund.
Made to order items
Anything built to your dimensions, finish or specification is exempt from the 14 day cooling off period, because it cannot be resold. That is normal under consumer law for custom goods, and we point it out before you order rather than after. Up until we start making it you can still cancel, and we will refund what has not already been spent on materials.
Faulty or damaged goods
Check your delivery when it arrives and tell us within a few days if anything is damaged, with photographs if you can. A faulty item is repaired, replaced or refunded, at no cost to you, and return shipping is on us. This applies to made to order items too.
Deposits for building work
Quotes are free and carry no obligation. Where a deposit is taken to hold a date or to order materials, it is refundable in full if you cancel more than 14 days before the agreed start date. Inside 14 days we deduct materials already ordered and any work already done, and refund the rest. If we have to cancel or cannot start, you get the deposit back in full.
If work is not right
Tell us. We come back and put it right, which is how our guarantee works and how we would rather handle it. Snags raised at handover are dealt with as part of the job, not as an extra.
