This policy explains what personal data AltHome collects through althome.ie, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. AltHome provides construction, renovation and finishing services in Kerry, Cork and Limerick, and sells furniture and fittings online.

What we collect and why
When you ask for a quote
Our quote form asks for your name, phone number, email address, the address of the job and a description of the work. We use it only to prepare your quote, to contact you about it and to plan the work if you go ahead. We do not sell it and we do not pass it to anyone outside the people who need it to do your job.
When you buy something
An order requires your name, billing and delivery address, email and phone number. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and never reach our servers. Order records are kept because tax law requires it.
When you just visit the site
Our host records standard server logs, including IP address, browser type and the pages requested, which are used for security and to keep the site running. If analytics or marketing cookies are used, they are only set after you agree to them, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing the cookies in your browser.
Legal basis
- Steps taken at your request before a contract, and performance of that contract, for quotes, jobs and orders.
- Legal obligation, for tax, accounting and health and safety records.
- Legitimate interests, for keeping the site secure and defending a claim if one is ever made.
- Consent, for optional cookies and for any marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who else sees it
Our website hosting and email providers, our payment provider for orders, our delivery partners where goods are shipped, and our accountant for invoices. Each processes data on our instructions only. Where a provider operates outside the European Economic Area, transfers are covered by the safeguards required under the GDPR.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become jobs: up to two years, then deleted.
- Job and order records: six years, as required for tax and to cover any warranty claim.
- Server logs: a short rolling period set by our host.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, object to a particular use, or ask for it in a portable format. Write to info@althome.ie and we will answer within one month. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland at dataprotection.ie.
